What's New in This Version:

• Intel® Parallel Building Blocks — This is a set of comprehensive parallel models that supports multiple ways to exploit parallelism. It includes Intel® Threading Building Blocks (Intel® TBB), Intel® Array Building Blocks (Intel® ABB), and Intel® Cilk Plus parallel models, all of which are portable, scalable, reliable, and future proof. Intel® Parallel Building Blocks (Intel® PBB) is supported in the four distinct phases of development by Intel® Parallel Studio.

• Intel® Parallel Advisor — This tool provides guidance for architects during the design stage to speed the parallel prototyping phase, improve efficiency, and gain confidence in an approach to incorporating parallelism.

• Numerous improvements — These were made throughout the suite and include support for Microsoft* Visual Studio* 2010, in addition to the 2005 and 2008 versions.

Intel® Parallel Advisor is an innovative new development tool that makes it easy to understand where to add parallelism to existing source code. It guides developers and architects through the process of exploring parallelism, identifying those areas with the greatest parallelism potential. It provides tools for proposing a parallelization, and for evaluating the performance and correctness of that proposed parallelization. This insight helps developers make better design decisions, providing information on the consequences of those choices and suggesting ways to resolve issues at the design stage — before major effort has been committed.

Whether you use the compilers, parallel debugger or the advanced threaded libraries, you can speed and simplify threading and improve productivity. Intel Parallel Composer 2011 enables Microsoft* Visual Studio* C/C++ developers to add parallelism to applications through simple concurrency functions, data parallel arrays, pre-threaded domain-specific libraries, Intel® PBB, and more.

The Intel® C++ Compiler adds new capabilities, from Intel PBB and task/_task complete, to standards-based language features including auto-parallelization, auto-vectorization and OpenMP* support. It's also fully compatible with Microsoft* Visual C++*, so recompiling is a simple way to add performance to your application. Intel® Parallel Inspector 2011

Intel® Parallel Inspector 2011 is a proactive bug finder for Windows* C/C++ serial and parallel applications that take advantage of multicore. Unlike traditional error checkers, Intel Parallel Inspector 2011 detects hard-to-find memory and threading errors in one tool. It rapidly provides root-cause analysis for crash-causing threading and memory defects by monitoring the runtime behavior of the code. It then maps errors to the source-code line, call stack, and memory reference. This is especially critical for nondeterministic errors (i.e., where the execution sequence changes from run to run) that are difficult to reproduce.
